About Hayling Island Sailing Club (HISC)Hayling Island Sailing Club enjoys a high reputation for its organisation of World and National Championships, Olympic trials and open events; the choice of sailing waters ensuring that, barring the most extreme weather conditions, events can be completed and enjoyed. Most weekends of the year the club is running some form of open event and the club racing features racing to open meeting standard. As a result the club race management is geared up to the highest level.
Meals are available from breakfast until around 9-00 p.m. during high season and especially during championships when these facilities will be geared up to meet the needs of competitors. The club was formed in 1921. Until 2001 the clubhouse was a two-storey brick building. With a lottery grant awarded to the Club, in recognition of becoming the RYA's Centre of Excellence on the South Coast, redevelopment of the Clubhouse was completed early in 2003. Still commanding wonderful views of the harbour and the sailing, the new building provides much improved club facilities; changing rooms, bars, dining room and services provide a comfortable environment for all members and visiting sailors. |
