The Sailing Area

sailing areaThe Race Area – Hayling Bay is an underwater bay largely protected from the tides that flow mostly east/west out of / into the Solent. Shallows to its east and west protect the area. These shallows dry to a greater or lesser extent at low water.
To reach the race area, sail south from HISC and go all the way south past Chichester Bar Beacon (which is a lattice tower standing some 10 meters high) and on past Chi Spit (a tubular tower). By this time you are over 2 km south of HISC. Only then turn east into the race area. You may be able to cut some of the corner at high tide, but it is not recommended.
